Shannon Bates to Present at 54th Annual Intellectual Property Law Conference

Harper & Bates LLP is pleased to announce that partner Shannon Bates, have been invited to serve as faculty members of the 54th Annual Intellectual Property Law Conference. The Conference will be held November 14-15, 2016, in Plano, Texas, hosted by the Center for American and International Law (CAIL). Each year, the conference attracts top IP speakers, practitioners, judges, and professionals from around the world.

Shannon Bates will present a year-in-review overview of trademark law, and will present on new developments in state and federal trade secret law, including an overview of the new federal Defend Trade Secrets Act and how it compares to the Texas Uniform Trade Secrets Act. The conference will highlight a broad range of intellectual property issues, including IP Law in Review presentations, updates on amended PTAB rules, comparisons of federal and Texas trade secrets law, practical advice for avoiding pitfalls while drafting patent claims, guidelines for understanding Section 101 as either a prosecutor or litigator, F/RAND issues, and changes practitioners need to be aware of surrounding pleading and discovery rules in the Eastern District of Texas.
